A Vulcan operative-for-hire.  [[Karina Durham]] and [[Alexander Rydell]] believed that [[Bradley Dillon]] had hired him and his partner, [[Taanz]] to retrieve the stolen [[subspace generator]].  Bradley had never heard of them.  (''[[The Next Item Up For Bid]]'' [TRK])  They were actually hired by Admiral [[Hitori Sulu]], who needed the generator for part of his plans against the Federation.  Spaanz and Taanz captured Commander [[Travis Dillon]] and Lieutenant Commander [[Patricia Hawkins]] at Demon's Sanctum and were later ordered to kill them and Captain Rydell, a task at which they failed. They were later hired by the Romulan [[Tarmak]] to help extract the [[Waystation]] command codes from Captain [[Lisa Beck]]'s mind, which they were able to do only after teaming up together in the rare double mind meld. Spaanz and Taanz are a parody of Hans and Franz from "Saturday Night Live," who are in turn a parody of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
