	After Captain [[Alexander Rydell]] destroys the Sacred Bone of Schnauzer, a bone-shaped asteroid revered by the ~~Caninians~~, the Caninian swear that he will rue the day and hit the [[USS Secondprize]] with an energy beam. No damage seems to have occurred, but later Lieutenant Andrea Carr returns to her quarters from her bridge shift to a startling discovery: her dog, [[Morgaine Le Fur]], has been given an incredible boost in intelligence and the ability to speak. Carr faints from the shock and awakens later to find herself bound up. Morgaine will not release her until Carr lets her out of her quarters, the doors of which will only open by voice command from Carr. Carr refuses at first, but relents when Morgaine threatens to use Carr's phaser on the next person to walk through Carr's door. Morgaine leads Carr to the bridge, where the dog leaps onto Rydell and begins humping him madly. Rydell does feel a bit of rue after this, and, she and Morgaine do a bit of bonding, Carr has to adjust to having a roommate rather than a pet.
