	A [[Collectors]] Vault-Ship arrives at Odubumpa, a world at the far edge of the [[Multek Enclave]], and, as Collectors are prone to do, they begin collecting everyone and everything in sight. Multek ships sent to investigate reports of aliens at Odubumpa are blasted to bits. When word reaches Frequoq [[Wuddle]] that the Collectors are coming, he orders what remains of the Multek fleet to gather between Odubumpa and [[Multos]], while he goes to [[Waystation]] for help. While there, he learns that Dr. [[Amedon Nelson\|Nelson]] has rejoined with the [[Midon]] symbiont. The help he is expecting isn't immediately offered. Federation President [[Bradley Dillon]] is hesitant to involve the Federation in what could become a war. Captain [[Lisa Beck]] reminds him that the Federation stands for helping species that can't defend themselves. Bradley doesn't like it, but he tells Beck to go do what she needs to do against the Collectors while he calls Starfleet for reinforcements. Nelson and Wuddle talk and decide that, when the current crisis is over, they want to give their relationship another try.


			After Beck and Lieutenant Commander [[Craig Porter]] say strained goodbyes to their respective significant others, [[Phillip Harper]] and [[Joan Redding]], they and Lieutenant Commander [[Sean Russell]] head out in the [[USS Wayward]]. While they are en route, the Multek fleet attempts to stop the Vault-Ship and fails. Beck orders Wuddle to have what's left of the fleet to meet them at Multos. Wuddle explains to his fleet that the Wayward is there to help, which is difficult for the fleet to grasp. They just had the fact that alien life exists forcefully impressed upon them by the Collectors, and now they have to work with other aliens to save their planet. Beck issues orders to the Multek fleet, and they engage the Vault-Ship. Unfortunately the Wayward is the only ship with weapons that that even touch the Vault-Ship, but even it doesn't have enough firepower to make a real dent. Beck tries a different plan. She has Russell broadcast a message on all frequencies stating the Wayward would be returning to Waystation to retrieve their secret weapon: the New and Improved Extra Super Duper Deluxe Blasting Cannon of Decimation, a one-of-a-kind item that was hand-built by a team of specially-trained Alcasian monks and is coated in an extra-thick layer of gold-pressed latinum for ultimate durability and shine. Russell continues, saying that the cannon is in the Waystation vault along with many other unique treasures of the galaxy. Unable to resist that kind of bait, the Chief Assessor of the Collectors orders the Vault-Ship to head to Waystation.


			Seeing that the Collectors are following them, Beck comms Waystation and orders Commander [[Walter Morales]] to start an evacuation.
