			Woodall later was put in temporary command of the [[USS Secondprize]] while Captain [[Alexander Rydell]] was on extended leave. He was exceptionally hard on the crew, leading them to put him and his Security Chief, Lieutenant [[Nell Vansen]] into a simulation of the Secondprize on the holodeck. He left the ship none-the-wiser and rather impressed with Lieutenant Commander [[Emily Sullivan]], so much so that he offered her the post of First Officer on the Orleans when it became available early the following year. (''[[The Replacement Captains]]'' [TRK]) Woodall decided to retire a little over a year later and, after putting Vansen and Sullivan in competition with each other, select Sullivan as his replacement, a suggestion of which Starfleet approved.
