	Picking up where the last story ended, the [[USS Anomaly]] has crashed on a planet deep in BorgSpace after getting blasted out of space and the sky by the [[Red Borg]]. The ship’s spaceframe, which was designed to handle the stresses of the [[anti-singularity drive]], is fine, but they have no way to get it up off of the surface. The crew detects a nearby humanoid settlement on the other side of a large forest but based on the lack of any signs of technology, they doubt that the inhabitants will be much help. Captain [[Reginald Bain]] decides to visit them anyway and takes Commander [[Vioxx]], Dr. [[Natalia Kasyov]], and Lieutenant [[~~Bre’zan~~ Brazzell]] with him. The ship’s spaceframe, which was designed to handle the stresses of the [[anti-singularity drive]], is fine, but they have no way to get it up off of the surface. The crew detects a nearby humanoid settlement on the other side of a large forest but based on the lack of any signs of technology, they doubt that the inhabitants will be much help. Captain [[Reginald Bain]] decides to visit them anyway and takes Commander [[Vioxx]], Dr. [[Natalia Kasyov]], and Lieutenant [[Bre’zan Brazzell]] with him.


			Engineer [[Selex]] approaches Sub-Commander [[Remax]] about assassinating Commander [[Prosak]]. Since Bain is away, there is opportunity, and with Vioxx gone, Selex says the task falls to the next highest-ranking Romulan, which is Remax. Remax refuses, since they don’t know if they will ever be able to leave this planet and he doesn’t want to spend the rest of his life in the brig. He also wants Vioxx to have to do it.


			Bain and his team reach the other edge of the forest and see a lone man working a field. Based on his simple appearance and the complete lack of anything remotely technological, Bain concludes there is no help to be had there and that they now need to try to follow the Prime Directive and make sure the villagers never see the Anomaly. Kasyov’s scans show something surprising, though: the man is a Borg. Vioxx insists that the quadcorder must be broken. Bain decides to settle it by marching out and introducing himself to the farmer, who reveals that he is indeed Borg. Only his arm implant is a rake, and his eye implant has been removed and covered with a black plate. He says his name is [[Ezekiel of Brown]] and invites Bain and team to come back to his village.


			The village is rustic, full of wooden homes and Borg working on various tasks, such as repairing carts to blacksmithing. Ezekiel takes the team to the village elder, [[Jebediah of Brown]], who welcomes them to [[Village One]] and introduces his Designated Dependent (equivalent to daughter), [[Sarah of Brown]]. Jebediah explains that their Collective descended into violence during the [[Great Factioning]] and was reduced to less than 100 drones. At that time, Jebediah searched the Borg archives for guidance and hit upon a solution: rejecting technology and connecting with the land. They removed what implants they could and maintain a connection to each other through the viniculum that they brought down from their cube. Now their Collective pursues perfection through harmony with the land. Bain tells Jebediah that they destroyed the cube. Jebediah offers food to the visitors, since the Borg eat very little. They give Bain and company a cart full and arrange for the Anomaly team to return the next day with a raceabout to pick up more in exchange for telling the [[Brown Borg]] about the state of the galaxy.


			Tovar under the control of [[Totap]] builds an outdoor kitchen to prepare meals for the crew with the food provided by the Brown Borg, then, once the food arrives, switches to [[Toflay]] to begin cooking. Kasyov goes to Bain and reports that [[Cabral]]’s interface was damaged in the crash, so even if they are able to launch, they won’t have anti-sing capabilities and will be sitting ducks for the Red Borg. Centurion [[Nortal]] meanwhile enters the kitchen to demand food and is harshly received by Toflay, who threatens to smite her. She is impressed and departs, watching him as she goes.


			Marsden realizes that the anti-singularity drive is their way to get the Anomaly off of the planet. Activating the drive creates a bubble around the ship that repels normal space and should push it up from the ground. But first they have to repair the interface housing that Cabral’s sphere rests in. Cabral believes that he could direct Borg nanoprobes to perform the repairs if they could get some from the Brown Borg.


			Selex goes to the bridge to see Bain, but Prosak is in command since Bain and Vioxx have already left. Unwillingly, he presents his plan to get the ship off of the planet, which involves cutting down every tree they can find and building a giant scaffolding system. Prosak tells him that Marsden and Cabral already have a better plan, which stuns Selex. He is even more certain that Prosak needs to die.


			The next morning, Bain, Vioxx, and Brazzell return to Village One. Bain asks Jebediah for some of the Brown Borg’s discarded implants, so the Anomaly crew can harvest nanoprobes from them. Jebediah refuses, saying that it is against their beliefs to give away their technology.


			Nortal goes to Tovar hoping to speak to Toflay. He tells her that she’s just going to have to wait, since Toflay isn’t around at the moment. Bain contacts the ship and breaks the news about the implants. He tells the bridge officers that they will just have to take a different approach, which Remax takes to mean that they should steal some. Marsden agrees, but Prosak is in command and does not like the idea. They ask Tovar, since he’s known Bain the longest, and he admits that Bain sidesteps protocol on occasion. Prosak decides that there isn’t any harm in just locating the implants, so Marsden takes a raceabout to find them. Remax volunteers to go as well and says they should bring Cabral’s hovercam along. As they leave, Prosak realizes that they are likely going to steal the implants anyway, but she declines to stop them.


			Back in Village One, Sarah takes a liking to Vioxx and asks him to assist her with various tasks. She drags him into a dishroom for a more amorous encounter.


			Marsden, Remax, and Cabral find that the Brown Borg buried their implants in a mound of dirt and take a few.


			Bain is telling a story to Jebediah when the elder Brown Borg suddenly announces that implants have been removed from their resting place. As Bain protests, Sarah and a staggering Vioxx arrive, and Jebediah adds that the Romulan has had his way with his daughter. Vioxx says that the reverse is what actually happened. Brazzell runs up in a panic followed by a horde of Brown Borg. Jebediah declares that the Anomaly crew will be assimilated to prevent them from using the stolen implants. Bain, who has to carrying a weak Vioxx, and Brazzell flee into the forest, and Bain comms the Anomaly to find out what happened. After realizing that he had been unclear about his orders, he admits that he probably would have stolen the implants too. He says that he, Vioxx, and Brazzell will try to keep the Borg chasing them while Marsden and Cabral repair the interface. Tovar and his security officers take up positions on top of the Anomaly’s saucer with compression phaser rifles and prepare to defend the ship.


			Bain insists that the security officers keep their rifles on stun, which reduces the number of frequencies available to use against the Brown Borg. As the Brown Borg approach, Bain attempts to stop them, saying that he has no quarrel with the Borg. The Brown Borg reply in unison that they have a quarrel with him and continue advancing toward the Anomaly. Tovar and the other defenders open fire.


			They soon run out of frequencies that work, but Cabral finishes directing the nanoprobes through the repairs just as the Brown Borg begin banging on the ship’s hull. Bain and the security officers re-enter the ship. Cabral activates the anti-sing field, knocking the Brown Borg all the way back to the forest. They can only watch as the Anomaly engages its polaron drive and sails back into space.


			Safely on their way back to Federation space at anti-sing speeds, Remax reminds Vioxx that he still has to kill Prosak.
