==Summary==
Captain [[Alexander Rydell]] tells the story of his first mission on the [[USS Secondprize]]. While ferrying Admiral [[Earl Wyndham]] to a ceremony on [[Lodgibax]], Rydell notices that the admiral is behaving more than a little strangely. Wyndham steals a shuttlecraft and flees into an asteroid belt. Rydell follows in another shuttle with his navigator at the time, a very sweet ensign named [[Patricia Hawkins]]. They track Wyndham to a facility hidden inside an asteroid. No record of the installation exists in the Starfleet databanks. Once inside, Rydell and Hawkins find themselves trapped inside a reality created by Wyndham's deranged mind. Wyndham focuses all of his attention on tormenting Hawkins, eventually entering her mind. Rydell pursues and ends up in an attic-like room with the imaginary friends of Hawkins' childhood as well as a talking black oily orb made up of all of the negative emotions Hawkins has buried away throughout her entire life. Rydell convinces the orb to give Hawkins all of those emotions back because it is the only way she can fight back against Wyndham. The orb agrres, and a revitalized Hawkins rips Wyndham to shreds, forcing him to flee from her mind. Rydell and Hawkins find themselves in a small room containing a chair with a device mounted in the headrest. Wyndham is nowhere to be found. Before they can investigate, an automated system announces that the facility will self-destruct in two minutes. Rydell and Hawkins get out of there, returning in the two Secondprize shuttles before the base explodes. Starfleet declares Wyndham dead, and the newly-aggressive Hawkins is made the Secondprize's Chief of Security.
