As the Selvan's plan comes to fruition, chaos reigns aboard Waystation. And who just launched that runabout?
Summary
This story picks up right after A Door Is Ajar.
Now in control of Lisa Beck's body, the Selvan leaves Beck's quarters and meets up with Bradley Dillon, who wants Beck to stop John Simms, Jr. from building a new docking arm on the station. Bradley believes that Beck has agreed to help him, but really the Selvan was barely paying intention. The Selvan goes to a docking bay and leaves Waystation in the Runabout USS Roanoke. In Ops, Lieutenant Commander Craig Porter and Lieutenant Sean Russell are confused by Beck's abrupt departure. They try to find Commander Walter Morales. Scanners show that he is in Beck's quarters and severely injured. Porter and Russell rush to Beck's quarters, meeting Dr. Amedon Nelson there and find the dead Phillip Harper and Morales, who has been slashed up. The sensor logs are filled in interference. Porter, who is now in command, sets to work trying to compensate for the interference.
Beck's consciousness is trapped in a featurless gray nothing. She finds that she is able to shape the nothing into whatever environment she wishes. She encounters a being there. Beck tries to explain her situation to the being who confusingly says, "Selvan are here." The Selvan in her body, meanwhile, arrives at Vega Two.
Morales wakes up in Sickbay with Yeoman Tina Jones by his side. He can't remember anything about what happened. The last thing he recalls is painting and then going to bed. Porter and Russell arrive in Sickbay. Porter has been able to clean up the video from the sensors but no audio. The video shows Morales killing Phillip Harper.
