Dr. Janet Corbair was a 23rd Century Federation scientist. After experimenting on human subjects without their permission and way outside the guidelines of the Federation Science Council, she was sent to a rehabilitation colony. Following her release, she was assigned to the SS Clydesdale by Commodore Scott Enwright, who convinced the Clydesdale's captain, Mike Harper to take her on in exchange for repairs to his ship.

On the Clydesdale, Corbair acted as the de facto science officer while also resisting efforts by Ronnie Harper to befriend her.
