Dr. Janet Corbair
Dr. Janet Corbair was a 23rd Century Federation scientist. After experimenting on human subjects without their permission and way outside the guidelines of the Federation Science Council, she was sent to a rehabilitation colony. Following her release, she was assigned to the SS Clydesdale by Commodore Scott Enwright, who convinced the Clydesdale's captain, Mike Harper to take her on in exchange for repairs to his ship.
On the Clydesdale, Corbair acted as the de facto science officer while also resisting efforts by Ronnie Harper to befriend her. She was very suspicious of Dr. John Smith when the Clydesdale transported him to The Well, and, once it was revealed that he was actually from another universe, she advocated for turning him over to Federation scientists for study. This idea was rejected, but she did find an old tricorder in Smith's belongs after he returned to his universe. She also, without Mike knowing, accepted a job from Commodore Enwright to check up on Khan Noonian Singh. Corbair had no intentions of actually following through on it and planned to file false reports. ("Back to the Well" [TOS])
Corbair seduced then drugged a Starfleet geologist in order to steal a part out of his tricorder that she needed to make the one she had function. It tried to call back to Starfleet, rendering it useless to her. ("Antares or Bust" [TOS])
When the crew was taken captive by the USS Ventus under the control of Light, Corbair helped Mike engineer an escape and was able to convince Light to relinquish control of Ronnie. She trapped light in an antimatter containment unit then traded it to Dr. Banarek in exchange for a working tricorder. ("Busted" [TOS])
Corbair secretly scanned Ronnie with her newly-acquired tricorder while playing a series of card games with her, games that Ronnie always won. ("Looking Out for the Little Guy" [TOS])
