SECTION 28


You select the coordinates for 18978.20 and engage the time drive. The shuttle lifts off of the deck of the docking bay, then everything around you becomes a tunnel of swirling color as the timeship takes you back to your chosen destination.

You emerge over the planet Vulcan as you hoped, and the shuttle computer quickly confirms that you have indeed arrived in 2387. Your previous training paid off, and you were able to select the correct coordinates. Also, by some cosmic coincidence, if you separated the coordinate into its component numbers in a certain way (18-9-7-8-20) and then converted the numbers to letters, it spells out RIGHT. Weird, huh?

Since the sensors of this era will likely detect you in no time, you quickly engage the craft’s sensor masking and head into the atmosphere, touching down a short distance away from the hidden facility inside a massive cavern dug into the T’Rynanhyd Mountains, where the ship Spock will use to try to stop the Hobus supernova is being constructed.

It’s a weird feeling of déjà vu, since you were here not that long ago. In fact, you’re here now. Not you you, but the other you from before. Well, not before, since it’s still happening now, but before for you.

We’re just going to stop that right there before this becomes a scene from Spaceballs.

After taking off your cardigan (It’s lovely, but the black Section 31 outfit allows you to sneak around more effectively), you manage to slip into the facility unnoticed (See. I told you so.) and make your way towards where the other you is hiding and watching events unfold. You find a good vantage point behind some crates that gives you a clear view of yourself hiding behind some nearby cargo containers as well as the Jellyfish ship.

Any moment now, a team from the USS Anomaly consisting of Commander Prosak, Commander Vioxx, and Sub-Commander Remax will be infiltrating Spock’s ship and stealing a small sample of red matter, which they will then use to stop the supernova themselves while also sending Spock’s ship and a Romulan mining ship into a slightly different timeline where they can do whatever they do that doesn’t stop Hobus in time. It is all a bit complicated, and you got the story second hand from Reginald and your adopted son, Tovar.

Regardless, whatever they did the first time worked, but a Section 31 agent is going to show up soon and ruin things.

It’s a bit odd seeing yourself. Not like looking in a mirror. More like watching a holovid, but you’re actually right over there. You could just walk over and talk to yourself, not that you would. That would absolutely mess up the timeline.

There’s a slight flash off to your right behind another set of cargo containers between you and yourself. You look in time to see another woman in a Section 31 uniform appear. It’s not you this time, thankfully (That would have been really confusing!). No, this is a younger woman with long dark wavy hair. She’s not facing you, but you already have your suspicions as to her identity. As soon as she turns slightly to give you a profile, you confirm that you are correct.

You know who she is.

Your daughter, Audrey.

She starts moving toward your past self. You have seconds to decide on a plan!
