Synopsis
On an emergency mission to deliver an inoculation to a starbase, the USS Devonshire suddenly finds itself and its crew locked in a battle for control of a starbase with a ruthless genetically enhanced enemy.
Chibbles
A Chibble is a genetically engineered and enhanced Tribble, spliced with genes from the Terran animal the Chinchilla. They were developed as part of an ongoing Starfleet Weapons and Advanced Tactics (SWAT) attempt to breed the ultimate anti-Klingon weapon. Sadly they failed. This time.
Author's Note
My wife is a keen animal welfare/rescue worker and as such my home is frequently invaded by small furry animals (and sometimes some not so small ones - see Max). The idea of Chibbles came about after the latest furball appeared on my lap amidst cries of "ooo" and "ahhh" and "Isn't it lovely?".
Yes, it's lovely, as long as it stays a long way away from me. It looks just like a Tribble, let me storke it... "Ahhh..." So soft, so warm... "ARRRGGHHH!!!!" SO MANY TEETH!!!!!
And thus, the Chibble was born!
