A division of Starfleet which is tasked with ensuring that the material of the fleet STAYS in the fleet. Each ship, base and outpost has had at least one inventory officer assigned to work within it's rank and file since the late 23rd Century and the recruitment of certain "less than desireable" bar staff onto some ships of the line.
Noteable Inventory personnel have included:
- Andrew Baxter, one time inventory officer aboard the USS Secondprize moved on to command both the USS Aerostar and the USS Explorer after getting gassed by his own commanding officer.
- Velara Commander of the Inventory Mothership, USS Greenspan and the USS Greenspan-A after the borg eradicated the original in 2376. Temporary commander of the USS Explorer in 2378.
- Lt. Commander Horace Malloy the inventory officer aboard the USS Corsica who becomes assimilated by the Borg in 2377. His actions in creating the "Inventorised" Borg led directly to the destruction of several colonies, the Inventory Mothership USS Greenspan, and the Borg cube#590 itself when it gets flown directly into a sun.
