SECTION 4
You select the coordinates for 21515.1513 and engage the time drive. The shuttle lifts off of the deck of the docking bay, then everything around you becomes a tunnel of swirling color as the timeship takes you back to your chosen destination.
Your ship exists the colorful swirls of the time corridor into a bunch of other colorful swirls. For a moment you don’t think that you’ve actually stopped time traveling, but then you realize these new swirls are much more cloud like.
A nebula.
It’s kind of relaxing really.
Your sensors indicate a ship nearby. Centuries ago, a nebula like this would have wreaked havoc with your craft’s sensors, but fortunately 26th century technology is a bit more advanced than that.
You really need to get out of this nebula, so you can get your bearings and figure out what year you’ve arrived in.
That ship nearby is showing a lot of damage, though. And some kind of energy build-up. The sensors have no idea what it is.
That’s disconcerting.
You take a closer look at the sensors. The ship is Starfleet. An old Miranda class. USS Reliant.
Reliant. Why does that name sound familiar?
Oh! That was the ship Khan Noonian Singh took over when he stole the Genesis device! So that energy build up has to be…
Oh no.
You frantically move to engage the timeship’s warp drive, but it’s far too late.
BOOOM!
You know somewhere the USS Enterprise is warping to safety. You however are obliterated in an instant by the detonation of Genesis.
On the bright side, this explosion will result in a lovely planet. Of course, it explodes a short time later.
Maybe there isn’t a bright side. Sorry about that.
